Uzabase Launches Project to Promote Use of ChatGPT and LLM in Business Intelligence

Uzabase, Inc. (hereinafter “Uzabase”) has launched a project to promote the use of ChatGPT and Large Language Model (LLM) in the business intelligence domain as the sixth round of its Play Engineering project started in April 2022, aiming to upskill Uzabase members across the company, open new frontiers for each business, and lead the application of cutting-edge business intelligence both in Japanese and English.

The rapid development of AI technologies such as ChatGPT and LLM has urged all business professionals, including executives, to improve their literacy in technology as well as create new value through enhanced work efficiency. In line with this, social business media service NewsPicks, operated by the Uzabase Group, has added an “AI tab” to its interface to collect news related to AI and draw upon NewsPicks’ three aspects—curation, content, and comments—to provide users with timely information on the impact of AI on businesses and its implications.

In addition, Uzabase has decided to launch a new “ChatGPT/LLM Promotion Project” to further leverage technology for its future business growth.

The project aims not only to advance the skills of Uzabase members, but also to promote practical use of ChatGPT and LLM with new joint research partners, leveraging Uzabase’s proprietary business intelligence platforms utilized by numerous companies, and eventually realize our Purpose: “Awaken a world of play in business, with our insights.”

Details of “ChatGPT/LLM Promotion Project”

(1) Recommend to include the use of ChatGPT and LLM in company-wide Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for business efficiency, and introduce benefits of up to 10,000 yen/month per person for expenses associated with the paid version of ChatGPT, API/Plug-in pay-as-you-go, GitHub Copilot, and other related services.

(2) Set a budget to support the project and introduce a system allowing to place orders for AI projects such as ChatGPT and LLM to Uzabase engineers through the Group-wide side job program DIVE (https://www.uzabase.com/jp/info/dive/; Japanese only).

(3) Recruit companies, universities, and research institutions for joint research with the technology lab UB Research and develop specialized LLM for business intelligence.

Going forward, Uzabase will continue to provide its members of various professions with opportunities to maximize their engineering potential so that they can create new value through enhanced work efficiency. We will also periodically revise the project’s content and popularize it externally, aiming to lead the use of technology in the business intelligence domain through its practical application.

Note:

Data and content provided by our data and content partners will not be used by ChatGPT/LLM without the consent of the said partners.

About the Play Engineering Project

Since Uzabase’s founding in 2008, we have always aimed to combine the power of people and technology in a bid to create must-have business intelligence services. One of our seven material issues is “Becoming a technology company (Establish a new, technology-driven business model for the company).” As a technology company, we want to change the way business professionals work by freeing them from labor-intensive tasks and allowing them to do more creative work instead. This is a vision that we would also like to embody ourselves. With this vision in mind, Uzabase launched its Play Engineering project in April 2022, aiming to awaken a world of play in business with the power of engineering.

Comment from Yusuke Inagaki, Co-CEO/CTO of Uzabase, Inc.

As the use of ChatGPT and LLM continues to spread, it is crucial for both engineers and non-engineers to work together, transcending teams and job functions and aligning their perceptions of technology in order to explore and promote its beneficial use in each and every setting.

Uzabase boasts one of the world’s largest volumes of data in business intelligence, thanks to our numerous data and content partners. While we understand our partners’ strong concerns regarding the use of ChatGPT and LLM, as a startup company, we are also acutely aware that any delay in utilizing such innovative technologies could be fatal.

Given Uzabase’s unique position, we believe that we can lead the way in utilizing such technologies in the business intelligence domain while gaining the understanding of our data and content partners. We also invite companies, universities, and research institutions to join us in research, hoping that together we can create new forms of leveraging business intelligence and circulate them worldwide, thus contributing to society at large.
