SPEEDA Singapore Corporate Sales Team

Joined 2013

Kotaro Takahashi

Kotaro was born in Hokkaido and graduated from Chiba University. He studied abroad when he was a university student, and applied to UZABASE because he was looking for a company where he could work in a global environment. After joining UZABASE, Kotaro worked in corporate sales and marketing for SPEEDA, as well as recruiting, at the Tokyo office before moving to the Singapore office in August 2016. His hobbies are songwriting and performance. At the company’s "Year End Party", where members from all of UZABASE’s offices gather together, Kotaro has performed a company song that he made voluntarily.

Travelling Around Asia! A Day in International Sales, Experiencing the World First-Hand

2018.05.30

  • 7:00 AM

  • Since it’s always summer in Singapore, I always wake up in sweat. I then shower and get ready to go to the office. Antiperspirant goods are always a must around Southeast Asia.

  • 8:30 AM

  • I drink fresh juice that I bought at a food stall and go to work. From my home, it takes about 30 minutes to get to work by train and bicycle. I bought my bicycle at a cheap price from a local on "Craigslist".

  • 9:00 AM

  • Meetings are held every Monday for all sales and marketing members. Normally, other members are always on the move, so these meetings are a precious opportunity to see everyone.

  • 10:00 AM

  • I visit the Singapore office of a Japanese trading company. On my way to and from there, I use my phone or Slack for simple meetings with other team members. There are many employees who are travelling abroad on business or working remotely, and I strive to respond to them in real time.

  • 12:00 PM

  • I have lunch on the go. I also sometimes eat with business partners or team members who are nearby. Every time I eat with people from various countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam, I feel the difference in culture and ways of thinking of each country.

  • 1:00 PM

  • I visit European financial institutions looking for information on companies and industries in ASEAN. I get the feeling that I have conveyed the value of SPEEDA to customers!

  • 3:30 PM

  • I go to the airport for my business trip. In general, I spend about one-third to one-half of a month travelling to countries other than Singapore.

  • 4:30 PM

  • I take a flight to Thailand, and arrive in about 2.5 hours. However, due to the time difference, it is already 8:00 PM when I get there.

  • 8:30 PM

  • When I arrive in Thailand, I transfer to the city from the airport and join a party where local investors and executives gather.

  • 10:00 PM

  • The party ends early. Unlike in Japan, there aren’t any second and third after-parties. If I feel like it, I might wander around the city alone after this.

  • 11:00 PM

  • I return to the hotel and prepare for a meeting that I have the next day. I go to bed early. The hotel is quite comfortable, because the air conditioning is working.

Message from Kotaro Takahashi

This is my first time working overseas, so I was a little confused at first about the culture differences and local business customs, but I’ve had pretty exciting time since then. There are various opportunities here at UZABASE if you take action on achieving your goals.
