UZABASE is my very first career. I've been wanting to work at a startup for a long time. I find the startup environment exciting and stimulating. As soon as I came across UZABASE while I was job hunting in Tokyo, I knew that was where I wanted to start my career - their values, their diversified and multinational team members, and their strong ambition to expand their business globally really attracted me.

Currently, I am the Head of Financial Institutions Coverage for the SPEEDA Asia Sales Team. My team role is to lead a team of 4 members who are in charge of SPEEDA business development of Financial Institutions segments in Asia-Pacific region.

In 2015, I was transferred from the Tokyo HQ to the Hong Kong office to start my new role – Business Development for the Greater China region. Back then, we were still in the Zero to One phase for our non-Japanese market. We had no branding, no customer base, and no success story as we had back in Japan.

For the entire first year, I was in Greater China; I approached numerous companies and received countless rejections and failures.

It was indeed a frustrating period, but no one in the team thought about giving up. We looked carefully into each failure and adapted what we learnt to our sales and product development strategies. With that strong determination and exceptional adaptability, we finally came to a breakthrough by getting top-tier players on board. They are very satisfied with the SPEEDA service.

The most valuable lesson I have learnt from this experience is “to take failure in my stride”. What is more important than failure itself is to carefully look into the reason behind the failure, adapt what we learn, and execute with discipline.
Don’t fear rejections, don’t fear failures, because it simply means that we are one step closer to success.

As I have been working with enthusiastic colleagues who pursue their goals passionately, and exchanging thoughts and opinions with our founders and managers, I am now visualising to run my own business one day. I am now in the middle of journey to find the one I can devote myself into with 100% passion as my own business.
