    Yusuke Inagaki

    Prior to establishing UZABASE, Yusuke Inagaki was the project manager of the Technology Integration Division at ABeam Consulting, where he actively developed and constructed the entire company's system strategies. Inagaki was also involved in the design and construction of large-scale databases for financial institutions. With his rich experience and knowledge in systems technology, Inagaki co-founded UZABASE with Yusuke Umeda and Ryosuke Niino in 2008, and assumed the role of Co-CEO for UZABASE and CEO for NewsPicks in 2017.

    Yusuke Umeda

    Yusuke Umeda previously worked at Corporate Directions, a strategy consulting firm, and UBS Investment Banking Division (Tokyo) before founding UZABASE with co-founders Ryosuke Niino and Yusuke Inagaki in 2008. UZABASE launched the corporate and industry information platform “SPEEDA” in 2009 and then the Economic and Business News Platform with Social Networking Functions “NewsPicks” in 2013. Umeda is currently the Co-CEO for UZABASE, Director for NewsPicks, as well as Chairman for NewsPicks USA, LLC.

    Ryosuke Niino

    Prior to founding UZABASE, Ryosuke Niino worked at Mitsui & Co., where he was a member of the business investment team in the Lifestyle Segment. Niino developed intermediate distribution strategies within Japan, and was actively involved in business investments and corporate restructuring. After joining UBS Investment Banking Division, he served as financial adviser for companies in the consumer goods and retail sectors. In 2008, Niino co-founded UZABASE with Yusuke Umeda and Yusuke Inagaki.

    Oki Matsumoto

    Chief Executive Officer of Monex Group, Inc. and Monex, Inc. With a rigid commitment to contribute to sound development of capital markets, Oki Matsumoto founded Monex, Inc. in 1999 to timely respond to the full liberalisation of brokerage commissions in Japan. After conducting several mergers, Matsumoto now leads a financial institutions group that provides online brokerage services in Japan, the USA, and Hong Kong. Before founding Monex, Matsumoto was a General Partner, the then youngest-ever appointed, of The Goldman Sachs Group, L.P. Matsumoto is also the former External Director of Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc, and serves on the boards of some public companies, including MasterCard Incorporated.

    Shinobu Matsui

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA). After 2 years of experience in auditing at one of the Japanese leading audit companies, Shinobu Matsui worked as a consulting manager of the international tax department at PwC. For her family reason, she moved to Turkey and lived in there for 4 years. After she returned to Japan, she joined UZABASE. In 2018, she began to serve as Executive Officer and Head of Corporate.

    Mirai Murakami

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA). After years of experience in auditing at PwC, Mirai Murakami spent three years at UBS Investment Banking Division, where he served as financial adviser for companies in the consumer goods and retail sector and the financial institutions sector. Prior to joining UZABASE in 2012, Murakami was in KPMG Healthcare Japan, where he provided M&A advisory services for clients in the healthcare sector, and also assisted clients in their business strategies through assessment of business models and financial risks.

    Tomoyuki Ota

    Prior to joining UZABASE in January 2017, Tomoyuki Ota was with UBS Securities and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities. He has been engaged in the investment banking industry for 14 years, providing M&A advisory and equity debt finance services to corporate clients in the technological sector. From origination to execution, Ota managed numerous cross-border and domestic M&A deals. He also has experience working in the Silicon Valley.

    Noriko Shimada

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA). After serving as an auditor for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Noriko Shimada worked for construction management firm Meiho Facility Works, where she was engaged in cost management accounting. She then moved on to international business development consulting and corporate taxation with SCS Global Group, before finally joining UZABASE in August 2015 as a full-time Audit and Supervisory Board Member.

    Masahiro Kotosaka

    Masahiro Kotosaka is an associate professor at Keio University (Faculty of Policy Management, Shonan Fujisawa Campus). Following the experience of starting up several companies, he mainly engaged in management support of overseas companies at the Japan and Germany branches of McKinsey & Company. He went on to obtain a Master of Science and PhD in Management Research at the University of Oxford. He assumed his current position in 2016 after being a lecturer at the Department of Management at Ritsumeikan University. He is the author of “The Discipline of Crossing Borders”.

    Shinsuke Matsumoto

    Shinsuke Matsumoto is a lawyer admitted in Japan and New York. He became a partner of Nakamura, Tsunoda & Matsumoto in 2005 after experience at Nishimura & Partners, Nagashima & Ohno, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York. Whilst engaging in M&A, crisis management, governance support, and support in start-up companies as a lawyer, he also holds lectures at Gakushuin University, Tsukuba University, and Rikkyo University. He has been a professor at Waseda University since 2014. He joined UZABASE as an External Audit and Supervisory Board Member in 2016. He has graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo and Stanford Law School.

    Hideyuki Takeuchi

    Hideyuki Takeuchi started two IT companies while he was still studying Software Engineering at the university. As the founder and developer, Takeuchi has successfully developed a large number of software products and large-scale systems including Content Delivery Network. In 2008, Takeuchi met Inagaki and joined UZABASE during its initial start-up phase. At present, he is in charge of system designing and development of "SPEEDA" and "NewsPicks". As the top engineer in UZABASE, Takeuchi is constantly finding new and innovative solutions for the company.

    Yasutaka Fukuda

    Born in 1972, Yasutaka Fukuda worked as a sales consultant at Oracle Corporation Japan after graduating university. In 2001, he was temporarily transferred to Oracle Corporation Headquarters in the US, where he was engaged in sales. In 2004, he transferred to Salesforce.com, Inc. The next year, he transferred to the Japan branch. For the next nine years, he worked as the Executive Operating Officer as well as Senior Vice President. He joined Marketo Inc. in June of 2014, taking up the post of the Representative Director and President, and in October of 2017, became the Representative Director and President of the Asia-Pacific Japan Region.

    Hiroki Yamanaka

    After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo in March 2010, Hiroki joined Mitsubishi Corporation as a fresh graduate. As part of the management department in Mitsubishi's Energy Business Group, he engaged in computational operations for financials and taxes pertaining to budgeting and investment for the natural gas and petroleum enterprises. In July 2014, Hiroki joined UZABASE as the head of domestic sales for SPEEDA, leading the sales team as manager. He became an Executive Officer in January 2018 for the SPEEDA Japan business as COO.

    Takayuki Hayashi

    Takayuki graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Matsuyama University in 2003, and then entered a system integrator company in Fukuoka. In 2009, he began freelance work, and after primarily engaging in enterprise system development, he took part in the development of SPEEDA as a freelance worker. Takayuki officially joined UZABASE in January 2017, and became an Executive Officer for the SPEEDA Japan business as CTO in January 2018.

    Takeshi Osoekawa

    Takeshi Osoekawa completed the doctoral program of the Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences at the University of Tsukuba, gaining a Doctor of Science. His specialization is in mathematics, especially in computer algebraic calculation and computational science. From 2012, he worked on data analysis operations and research and development of artificial intelligence at FUJITSU LIMITED. In July of 2018, he entered UZABASE, Inc., and took up the position of SPEEDA Japan Operation Technical Advisor Chief Data Scientist.

    Yasunori Naito

    Yasunori has been responsible for the overall SPEEDA Asia business across Greater China and ASEAN region since January 2018. He joined UZABASE in 2016, leading the SPEEDA Asia Consulting Service team to enhance customer experience. He brought 12 years of experience in management consulting including 10 years at Accenture. Yasunori was a professional management consultant with in-depth experience in strategic planning and hands-on execution including change management, post-merger integration, business turn-around and operation strategy. Yasunori graduated from the Executive MBA Programme jointly offered by Columbia University, London Business School, and The University of Hong Kong.

    Mifnaz Jawahar

    Mifnaz is a CFA charterholder and certified Financial Risk Manager, with professional accounting qualifications and more than 12 years of work experience in investment research, corporate planning & analysis, business strategy, and risk management. She has extensive exposure to fundamental equity and credit research, industry research, and forensic accounting reviews. Prior to joining UZABASE, she worked at Allianz Insurance in Sri Lanka as its Chief Risk and Planning Officer, where she was instrumental in setting up risk management functions for both the life and non-life businesses, and in the preparation of the business strategy. At Amba Research, she managed a team of offshore equity and credit research analysts working for one of the world’s largest asset managers and a leading European investment bank.

    Norihiko Sasaki

    Norihiko Sasaki has over ten years experience in the media industry. Following a sabbatical, during which he graduated with a Master's degree from Stanford University, Sasaki became Editor-in-Chief of Toyo Keizai Online from November 2012 where he oversaw a publication with monthly page views in excess of 5.3 million. Sasaki had previously served Toyo Keizai first as a writer covering automobile and IT sectors, and later as a member of the editorial team. He also has a BA in Policy Management from Keio University.

    Masaaki Sugiura

    Sugiura began working for Hitachi Solutions straight out of university before later joining Simplex, where he worked as a project manager to develop services for major securities firms. He also gained experience as the lead for a team developing computer architecture design for a high-speed forex trading system. After this, Sugiura then took on the role of CTO at Talknote and was a key player in the service’s expansion. Sugiura joined UZABASE in 2014 and has been the NewsPicks Head of Development since early 2016.

    Daisuke Sakamoto

    Daisuke Sakamoto joined UZABASE as an intern when he was still in the Faculty of Commerce in Doshisha University. After graduation, he worked for a US-funded consulting firm before joining UZABASE again. He first worked in the product planning, customer service, and sales departments for SPEEDA, and then engaged in the founding of the NewsPicks business in 2013. Currently, Sakamoto oversees the business development of NewsPicks.

    Shunsuke Kanaizumi

    Shunsuke joined FUSOSHA Publishing Inc. in 1996. He was initially engaged in the sales department, the editing of information magazines for women, and the editing of a teen fashion magazine before joining the editorial department for “SPA!” in 2001. While working in the “SPA!” editorial department, Shunsuke handled fields such as IT, investment, and events. In 2008, he became the deputy editor of “SPA!”. Shunsuke became the editor-in-chief of “SPA!” in 2013, promoting diversification strategies centred on weekly magazines and achieving business expansion. He joined NewsPicks, Inc. in April 2018, fulfilling the role of NewsPicks Editor-in-Chief.

    Makoto Shiono

    Makoto is a Partner/Managing Director at Industrial Growth Platform, Inc. and Executive Managing Director & CIO at JBIC IG Partners. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Keio University and earned a master's degree from the School of Law at Washington University in St. Louis. Before taking on his current position, Makoto worked at Citibank Japan, Goldman Sachs, Bain & Company, and Livedoor, and also engaged in entrepreneur work. He handles corporate strategic planning and implementation, M&A advisory, and PE/VC investment, both in Japan and overseas.

    Youichi Aso

    Youichi Aso graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Tokyo University. After entering Recruit Co.,Ltd. (Currently Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd.), he started up a subsidiary IT business (NIJIBOX Co.,Ltd.) as the founder and CEO. Subsequently, as a supervisor of headquarters’ Incubation Department, he worked on starting up the business development program “Recruit Ventures” and startup entrepreneurial support program “TECH LAB PAAK”. From 2018, he became an entrepreneur and started up business incubation platform Alphadrive Co., Ltd., and Genome Clinic Co.,Ltd. which provides analysis of the genome and DNA. In September of 2018, he took up the post of Corporate Executive Officer at NewsPicks. Together with these positions, he is also a venture partner of UB Ventures.

    Jay Lauf

    Jay Lauf is publisher and co-CEO of Quartz. In his role, he oversees Quartz's business operations. Under Lauf, Quartz's innovative advertising has garnered awards and honors from Digiday, AdWeek, the Headliner awards, Deadline Club and more. Prior to his role at Quartz, Lauf led The Atlantic’s revitalization as its Publisher. Jay came to The Atlantic from Wired, where he served progressively since 2001 as Advertising Director, Associate Publisher, and Publisher. During his tenure with Wired, Jay was instrumental in the title’s reinvigoration following 2001’s dot-com collapse. A graduate of Connecticut College, Jay also studied English Literature and Law at Durham University in the United Kingdom.

    Kevin J. Delaney

    Kevin J. Delaney is editor in chief and co-CEO of Quartz. Previously, he was a reporter at The Wall Street Journal for a decade, which included postings in Paris and San Francisco. While covering internet companies such as Google, Twitter, and Facebook for the Journal, he became convinced that newspapers could do more to ensure that good journalism thrives in the digital age. He was named managing editor of WSJ.com, where he led efforts that helped greatly expand the Journal’s online readership and championed innovative journalism projects that went on to win prizes. Early in his career, Kevin was a reporter for SmartMoney Magazine and a TV producer in Montreal. He is a graduate of Yale University, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and was the Hearst digital media professional-in-residence at Columbia University for 2014-15.

    Zach Seward

    Zach Seward is Chief Product Officer and executive editor of Quartz. He leads the teams responsible for product development, audience growth, and data visualization. He previously worked at The Wall Street Journal, first as a reporter covering education and health, then as the newspaper’s first social media editor. Before that, he helped launch the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard, covering the media industry.

    Joy Robins

    Joy Robins is the Chief Revenue Officer at Quartz, where she leads the company’s sales and marketing teams. Since joining Quartz in November 2013, Robins has led triple-digit growth in Quartz’s client base and revenue globally. Robins has been a strong and powerful voice in the industry since her time at BBC where she led digital ad sales efforts for six years. She has held previous roles at OMD and NBC before joining Quartz. She was honored by Ad Age's 40 under 40 in 2017.

    Yuichi Kinoshita

    Born in 1980, Yuichi Kinoshita graduated from the Faculty of Policy Management at Keio University and first joined Mitsubishi Corporation, before subsequently joining Dentsu. In 2008, Yuichi received a scholarship from the American Film Institute (AFI) and earned a Master of Arts degree in Film Producing at the AFI Conservatory. Yuichi then returned to Dentsu headquarters to engage in video production and investment, becoming the CEO of Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc in 2014.

    Shinji Kamohara

    After starting his career as an engineer at a systems integrator company, Shinji Kamohara joined the corporate strategy department of a consulting firm, where he engaged in the formulation of corporate strategy and operational reform, amongst other duties. Shinji was also lectured courses on consulting skills. He then joined the marketing department of Rakuten, developing the Japanese operations of acquired overseas enterprises. After a period of working on startup ventures, Shinji joined NewsPicks.

    Taira Sakuma

    Prior to joining UZABASE in 2013, Taira Sakuma worked in the Corporate Client Solutions division at UBS Japan. He has been engaged in the corporate financial strategic advisory business for 6 years. From March 2011 to April 2012, Sakuma managed M&A deals between Japanese and European companies at the UBS head office in London. He executed a wide variety of M&A deals, including domestic large-scale business integration, overseas acquisition, equity finance, and debt finance. In 2017, Sakuma also began to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Japan Venture Research and FORCAS.

    Yasushi Nakashima

    After studying at the Graduate School of Saitama University, Yasushi joined UZABASE shortly after the company's establishment, working as both an engineer and a designer for SPEEDA. He then led the global development for the SPEEDA Tech Team, and began working with Japan Venture Research in July 2017. Working in PMI and organisational development, Yasushi became an Executive Officer as COO in January 2018.

    Yuki Kodama

    Yuki participated in startups after entering the Shibaura Institute of Technology in 2003. During his studies there, he concurrently worked as a freelance engineer, gaining experience in core maintenance for open source projects. In March 2009, Yuki completed graduate studies at the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Shibaura Institute of Technology, and continued to work on various projects in freelance. He joined Japan Venture Research in 2012, engaging in the development and operation of entrepedia. Yuki became an Executive Officer in January 2018 as CTO.

    Atsuko Mori

    Atsuko is a graduate of Aoyama Gakuin University. After working in corporate relationship management at a megabank, she acquired an MBA at Aoyama Business School. She joined Uzabase in 2016, where she began working in the SPEEDA consulting service team, and then the analyst team. In January 2018, she joined Japan Venture Research. Atsuko primarily oversees information delivery, and in July 2018, she took office as executive officer

    Taira Sakuma

    Prior to joining UZABASE in 2013, Taira Sakuma worked in the Corporate Client Solutions division at UBS Japan. He has been engaged in the corporate financial strategic advisory business for 6 years. From March 2011 to April 2012, Sakuma managed M&A deals between Japanese and European companies at the UBS head office in London. He executed a wide variety of M&A deals, including domestic large-scale business integration, overseas acquisition, equity finance, and debt finance. In 2017, Sakuma also began to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Japan Venture Research and FORCAS.

    Shingo Taguchi

    Shingo graduated from Hokkai-Gakuen University in 2007. After acquiring experience with starting new businesses at HR and IT ventures, he established an organisational structure that maximised lifetime value at Sansan, a cloud-based business card management service. Shingo joined UZABASE in 2016, working with the SPEEDA Sales Team before taking the role of sales manager for FORCAS, where he supports the implementation of account-based marketing utilising the FORCAS service and SPEEDA. He became an Executive Officer as Head of Sales for FORCAS in January 2018.

    Sho Tsuchiya

    Sho worked as a system integration consultant at Accenture for five and a half years before moving to Singapore and joining the local branch of Konica Minolta there. With the Industry Reform Department at that company, he worked on promoting the design and launch of the functional operations of presiding companies in ASEAN for about three years. Sho joined UZABASE in 2015, overseeing the development of SPEEDA functions for business corporations. He launched Customer Success for FORCAS in 2017, and is also promoting community establishment for creating a world where future marketing is developed jointly with users.

    Akira Kitauchi

    After completing his Master's degree at the Graduate School of Information Science at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology in March 1998, Akira worked in developing technologies for natural language processing, information retrieval, and text mining at the Research and Development division of NTT Data. Thereafter, he worked at a startup for about three years, and joined UZABASE in November 2014, mainly overseeing the development of new functions, as well as the improvement of other functions, through algorithms for the SPEEDA business. He became an Executive Officer of FORCAS in January 2018 as the Chief AI Officer.

    Osamu Iwasawa

    Prior to joining UZABASE in 2011, Osamu Iwasawa was an equity research analyst at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, where he focused on the chemicals and materials sectors. He was later a management consultant at Nomura Research Institute, where he specialised in M&A advisory, business strategy planning, and turnaround management. In addition to the development of SPEEDA, Iwasawa was also engaged in the founding of SPEEDA's Asia business, when he served as President of UZABASE Hong Kong Limited. In 2018, he found Uzabase Ventures, Inc. and began to serve as the chief executive officer.
